TWELVE DECREES Promulgated

VATICAN CITY - Yesterday afternoon, 21 December 2018, the Holy Father Francis received in audience His Eminence Cardinal Angelo Becciu, Prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints. In the course of the audience, the Holy Father authorized the Congregation to promulgate decrees regarding:

- the heroic virtues of the Servant of God Jan Pietraszko, titular bishop of Torreblanda, auxiliary bishop of Kraków; born in Buczkowice, Bielsko (Poland) on 7 August 1911 and died in Kraków (Poland), on 2 March 1988;

- the heroic virtues of the Servant of God Giuseppe Codicè, priest of the archdiocese of Bologna and founder of the Visitation Sisters of the Immaculata; born in Budrio (Italy), on 3 March 1838 and died in Vedrana (Italy), on 21 January 1915;

- the heroic virtues of the Servant of God JóZef Fordon (in religion: MELCHIOR), professed priest of the Order of Friars Minor Conventual; born in Hrodna [a.k.a. Grodno] (Belarus), on 5 August 1862 and died there on 27 February 1927;

- the heroic virtues of the Servant of God Arcangelo Biasi (in religion: Girolamo Maria), professed priest of the Order of Friars Minor Conventual; born in Sfruz, Trent (Italy), on 7 December 1897 and died in Camposampiero, Padua (Italy), on 20 June 1929;

- the heroic virtues of the Servant of God JOSÉ ESTANISLAO Zavala López (in religion: Miguel FRANCISCO) professed priest of the Order of Saint Augustine; born in Rancho Nuevo de Santa Clara, Puruándiro, Michoacán de Ocampo (Mexico), on 12 November 1867, and died in Yuriria, Guanajuato (Mexico), on 4 April 1947;

- the heroic virtues of the Servant of God Carlo Tancredi Falletti Di Barolo, layperson of the archdiocese of Turin, married and cofounder of the Congregation of the Sisters of Saint Anne; born in Turin (Italy), on 26 October 1782, and died in Chiari, Brescia (Italy), on 4 September 1838.

ORDINARY PUBLIC CONSISTORY

VATICAN CITY - At 10:00 a.m. today, in the Consistory Hall of the Vatican Apostolic Palace, during the celebration of midmorning prayers, Pope Francis held an ordinary public consistory for the canonization of Blessed

  • NUNZIO SULPRIZIO, young layperson.

In the course of the consistory, the Holy Father decreed that the Blessed will be inscribed in the catalog of saints on 14 October 2018.

  • NAZARIA IGNACIA MARCH MESA, founder of the Congregation of the Missionary Crusaders of the Church.

In the course of the consistory, the Holy Father decreed that these Blesseds will be inscribed in the catalog of saints on 14 October 2018.

VATICAN CITY - Yesterday, 26 January 2018, Pope Francis received Cardinal Angelo Amato, sdb, Prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, in a private audience. In the course of the audience, the Holy Father authorized the Congregation to promulgate decrees regarding:

-  a miracle attributed to the intercession of the Venerable Servant of God ÉLISABETH EPPINGER (in religion: ALPHONSE-MARIE), founder of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Divine Saviour, the Congregation of the Sisters of the Redeemer, and the Congregation of the Sisters of the Divine Redeemer; born on 09 September 1814 in Niederbronn-les-Baines, Bas-Rhin (France) and died there on 31 July 1867; heroic virtues confirmed on 19 December 2011;

- the martyrdom of the Servant of God VERONICA ANTAL, young layperson of the diocese of Iaşi and member of the Secular Franciscan Order; born on 07 December 1935 in Nisiporeşti, Boteşti, Neamţ (Romania) and killed in odium fidei on 24 August 1958 in Hălăuceşti, Iaşi (Romania);

- the heroic virtues of the Servant of God AMBROGIO GRITTANI, priest of the diocese of Molfetta and founder of the Oblates of Saint Benedict Joseph Labre; born on 11 October 1907 in Ceglie del Campo, Bari (Italy) and died on 30 April 1951 in Molfetta, Bari (Italy); and,
