- the martyrdom of the Servant of God VICTOR EMILIO MOSCOSO CÁRDENAS, professed priest of the Society of Jesus; born in Cuenca, Azuay (Ecuador) on 21 April 1846 and killed in odium fidei in Riobamba, Chimborazo (Ecuador) on 4 May 1897;

-  the heroic virtues of the Servant of God MINDSZENTY JÓZSEF, Cardinal of the Holy Roman Church, archbishop of Esztergom and primate of Hungary; born in Csehimindszent, Vas (Hungary) on 29 March 1892, and died in Vienna (Austria) on 6 May 1975;

-  the heroic virtues of the Servant of God GIOVANNI BATTISTA ZUABONI, priest of the diocese of Brescia and founder of the Secular Institute of the Company of the Holy Family; born in Promo di Vestone, Bescia (Italy) on 24 January 1880, and died in Brescia (Italy) on 12 December 1939;

-  the heroic virtues of the Servant of God MANUEL GARCÍA NIETO, professed priest of the Society of Jesus;  born in Macotera, Salamanca (Spain) on 5 April 1894, and died in Comillas, Cantabria (Spain) on 13 April 1974;

-  the heroic virtues of the Servant of God Clorinda Letizia Formai (in religion: Serafina), founder of the Congregation of the Missionary Sisters of the Good News; born in Casola in Lunigiana, Massa-Carrara (Italy) on 28 August 1876, and died in Pontremoli, Massa-Carrara (Italy) on 1 June 1954; and,

- the heroic virtues of the Servant of God ANA JULIA DUQUE HENCKER (in religion: MARÍA BERENICE),  founder of the Congregation of the Little Sisters of the Annunciation; born in Salamina, Caldas (Colombia) on 14 August 1898, and died in Medellín, Antioquia (Colombia) on 25 July 1993.

VATICAN CITY - Today, 15 January 2019, Pope Francis received Cardinal Angelo Becciu, Prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, in a private audience. In the course of the audience, the Holy Father authorized the Congregation to promulgate decrees regarding:

-  a miracle attributed to the intercession of Blessed MARGUERITE BAYS, layperson of the archdiocese of Lausanne-Geneva-Fribourg and member of the Secular Franciscan Order; born in Pierraz, Fribourg (Switzerland) on 8 September 1815, and died in Siviriez, Fribourg (Switzerland) on 27 June 1879; beatified on 29 October 1995;

- the martyrdom of the Servants of God Isabel Lacaba Andía (in religion: MARÍA DEL CARMEN) and 13 COMPANIONS, professed religious of the Order of the Immaculate Conception, killed in odium fidei in 1936 in the religious persecution during the Spanish Civil War;

-  the heroic virtues of the Servant of God ANNA KAWOREK, cofounder of the Congregation of the Sisters of Saint Michael Archangel; born in Biedrzychowice, Głogówek (Poland) on 18 June 1872, and died in Miejsce Piastowe, Krosno (Poland) on 30 December 1936; and,

- the heroic virtues of the Servant of God MARÍA CONSUELO SANJURJO SANTOS (in religion: MARÍA SOLEDAD) professed religious of the Congregation of the Servants of Mary, Ministers to the Sick; born in Arecibo (Puerto Rico) on 15 November 1892, and died in San Juan de Puerto Rico (Puerto Rico) on 23 April 1973.
