							life and assiduous meditation of Sacred Scriptures. 
							He rebuilt convents devastated by the plague, 
							governed his Church wisely, assisted the poor, and 
							reconciled enemies. († 1373)

							Saint Juan de Ribera, bishop, who 
							also exercised the functions of a viceroy. Devoted 
							to the Holy Eucharist and a great defender of 
							Catholic truth, he instructed the people with solid 
							doctrine. († 1611)

							Carlo Melchiori from Sezze, 
							professed 
							religious of the Order of Friars Minor. Obliged from 
							childhood to seek support, he induced his companions 
							to imitate Christ and the saints. Vested in the 
							Franciscan habit he desired, he assiduously devoted 
							himself to the adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.

							Blessed Rita Amada Lopes Almeida of Jesus, 
							virgin. In difficult times of religious persecution 
							and corruption of customs, and amid great 
							difficulties and obstacles, she founded the 
							Institute of Jesus, Mary, Joseph, dedicated to the 
							gathering and education of poor and abandoned girls, 
							and diligently promoted the inner dignity of women.

							Rafaela María Porras Ayllón of the Sacred Heart, 
							virgin. She founded the Congregation of Handmaids of 
							the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Maligned as mentally 
							disabled, she spent the rest of her holy life in 
							suffering and penance. († 1925)
