  3. In Foix (France), the death of Saint Volusian, bishop of Tours, driven out by the Goths and died in exile. († c. 498)

  4. In Rome (Italy), the commemoration of Saint Prisca, under whose name a basilica was dedicated to God on the Aventine Hill. († before 499)

  5. At the monastery of Lure (France), Saint Deicola, abbot. Irish by origin and a disciple of Saint Columban, he was said to be the founder of this monastery. († 7th cent.)

  6. * In Ferrara (Italy), Blessed Beatrice d’Este, virgin and nun. After the death of the one she was to marry, she renounced the world and dedicated herself to God in the monastery she had founded under the Rule of Saint Benedict. († c. 1262)

  7. Near Buda (Hungary), Saint Margaret, virgin. Daughter of King Béla IV, she was dedicated to God by her parents for the liberation of their homeland from the power of the Tartars and given as a child to the nuns of the Order of Preachers. She made her profession at the age of twelve and surrendered herself so completely to the Lord that she unhesitatingly applied herself to becoming like the crucified Christ. († 1270)

  8. * In Cremona (Italy), Blessed Facius. A goldsmith, he left his native Verona to live in this city, devoting himself to penance, pilgrimages, and the care of the sick. († 1272)

  9. * In Morbegno (Italy), Blessed Andrea Grego from Peschiera, professed priest of the Order of Preachers, who walked for a long time in this region, living on little, spending the night with the poor, sleeping on branches, and winning the hearts of all. († 1485)

  10. * In L’Aquila (Italy), Blessed Cristina Ciccarelli, virgin and nun of the Order of Saint Augustine, humble, devoted to the poor, and diligent in contemplation. († 1543)

  11. * In Braniewo (Poland), Blessed Regina Protmann, virgin. Seized with love for the poor, she ardently devoted herself to the service of the needy and founded the Congregation of the Sisters of Saint Catherine. († 1613)

  12. * In Avrillé (France), the Blessed martyrs Félicité Pricet, Monique Pichery, Charlotte Lucas and Victoire Gusteau, shot during the French Revolution out of hatred for the Christian faith. († 1794)

  13. In Tarragona (Spain), Saint Jaume Hilari (Manuel) Barbal Cosán, professed religious of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, martyr, sentenced to death out of hatred for the Church and shot during the Spanish Civil War. († 1936)

  14. * In Cascia (Italy), Blessed Maria Teresa (Maria Giovanna) Fasce, abbess of the monastery of the Order of Saint Augustine, who joined asceticism and contemplation to action in favor of pilgrims and the needy. († 1947)

  15. * In El Tablón (Guatemala), Blessed Juan Barrera Méndez, child and martyr, who was tortured and killed, hung on a tree like Jesus crucified, out of hatred for the Church and its work for justice and human dignity. († 1980)
