many cruel tortures at the hands of her persecutors,
refused to utter sacrilegious words and preferred to
be burned at the stake rather than renounce the

hermit, totally dedicated to hard penance and
contemplation, near whose tomb was erected a famous

Febres Cordero, professed religious of the
Brothers of the Christian Schools, who promoted
literary studies in the city of Cuenca in Ecuador
for about forty years and then in Spain applied
himself with simplicity of mind to full observance
of the Rule. († 1910)

Leopoldo (Francisco Tomás) Márquez Sánchez from
Alpandeire, professed religious of the Order
of Friars Minor Capuchin, who for over half a
century served as questor of his community, begging
for the convent and the missions, while distributing
at the same time the alms of comfort and counsel,
providing an example of austerity and purity of
life. († 1956)
