In Alexandria (Egypt), the commemoration of
Saint Serapion, martyr,
who, was subjected to such cruel tortures during the
reign of Emperor Decius that all the joints of his
limbs were torn apart. Afterwards, he was thrown
from the upper stories of his home. († c. 248)

The commemoration of five Holy
martyrs, who were killed in Tyre in Phoenicia
(Lebanon) during the reign Emperor Diocletian. First
their entire bodies were torn by scourges. Then,
stripped of their clothing and placed in the arena,
they were thrown to various kinds of wild beasts.
They showed a firm and unshakeable constancy in
their youthful bodies. One of these in particular, a
young man not yet twenty years old, who was not
restrained by any chains, poured out prayers to God
with his arms extended in the manner of a cross. All
of them, standing unharmed before the goaded beasts,
were at last killed by the sword. († 303)

In Syrian Antioch (now Antakya, Türkiye), the
commemoration of Saint Tyrannio,
Bishop of Tyre and martyr. Educated in the Christian
faith from an early age, he was torn apart with iron
hooks and obtained the crown of victory together
with the priest Zenobius.

Saint Eucherius, Bishop
of Orleans. Forced into exile by King Charles Martel
on account of the slander directed at him by envious
individuals, he founda kindly refuge among the

bishop, who took care of the poor with particular

Jacinta Marto, who, although a young girl,
patiently endured the agony of the illness from
which she was suffering and fervently gave witness
to her devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. († 1920)

Rodzińska, professed religious of the
Congregation of the Sisters of Saint Dominic and
martyr. With her native land laid waste by war, she
was thrown into a prison camp where, seriously ill,
she achieved the glory of heaven. († 1945)
