  1. Our Lady of Lourdes, whom, four years after the proclamation of the dogma of the Immaculate Conception, the humble girl Saint Bernardette Soubirous saw several times at the Grotto of Massabielle in the Pyrenees, on the bank of the Gave River, near the town of Lourdes, where countless crowds of the faithful flock with devotion. (1858)

  2. In Rome (Italy), on the Appian Way, at the catacombs that bears her name today, Saint Soteris, virgin and martyr, who, as Saint Ambrose attests, neither obeyed the order to sacrifice to idols nor let herself be overcome by humiliating insults, disdaining through faith the nobility of her lineage and honors. Condemned to death by being killed with a sword, she did not abhor death. († c. 304)

  3. In Numidia (now north-east Algeria), the commemoration of many Holy martyrs who were arrested during the persecution of Emperor Diocletian and, since they refused to hand over  Holy Scriptures in accordance with the emperor’s  edict, died after being subjected to cruel tortures. († early 4th cent.)

  5. * In Puglia (Italy), Saint Secondinus, bishop. († 5th/6th cent.)

  6. In Château-Landon (France), Saint Severinus, abbot of Saint-Maurice-en-Valais. († 6th cent.)

  7. In Rome, at the Basilica of Saint Peter (Italy), the burial of Saint Gregory II, pope, who defended the Church and the veneration of icons during the dire times of Emperor Leo the Isaurian. He also  sent Saint Boniface to preach the Gospel in Germany . († 731)

  8. Also in Rome, the burial of Saint Paschal I, pope, who, in the desire to have the holy martyrs venerated, raised many of their bodies from the catacombs and placed them with honor in various churches of the City. († 824)

  9. * In Burgundy (France), Saint Ardagnus (or Ardan), abbot of Tournus. († 1066)

  10. In Chihuahua (Mexico), Saint Pedro Maldonado Lucero, diocesan priest and martyr, who, during the fury of the persecution, venerating the Eucharist to the very end, was shot in the head and achieved the triumph of martyrdom. († 1927)

  11. * In Vinaroz (Spain), Blessed Tobías (Francisco) Borrás Romeu, professed religious of the Order of the Hospitallers of Saint John of God and martyr, who consummated his martyrdom during the persecution against the faith during the Spanish Civil War. († 1937)
