  1. In Apamea ad Maeandrum in Phrygia (now Dinar, Türkiye), the commemoration of the Holy martyrs Gaius and Alexander, martyrs, who, during the persecution of Emperors Marcus Aurelius Antoninus and Lucius Verus, were crowned with glorious martyrdom. († d. 171)

  2. In the province of Africa Proconsularis, the commemoration of Saint Victor, martyr, for whose feast day Saint Augustine wrote a treatise for the people. († date uncertain)

  3. The commemoration of Saint Macarius, Bishop of Jerusalem, at whose exhortation holy sites were repaired and adorned with sacred basilicas by Constantine the Great and his mother Saint Helena. († c. 325)

  4. In Rome (Italy), Saint Simplicius, pope, who, after Italy and the city of Rome were invaded and destroyed by Germanic tribes, comforted the afflicted, fostered the unity of the Church, and strengthened the faith. († 483)

  5. In Paris (France), Saint Droctoveus, abbot, who Saint Germanus of Autun, his master, appointed as head of the monastery for monks he founded in this city. († c. 580)

  6. At the monastery of Bobbio (Italy), Saint Attalas, abbot, distinguished leader of the cenobitic life, who retired first to the monastery of Lérins and then to that of Luxeuil, where he succeeded Saint Columbanus, always manifesting great zeal and discernment. († 626)

  7. In Glasgow (Scotland), Saint John Ogilvie, professed priest of the Society of Jesus and martyr, who, after several years devoted to the study of sacred theology while exiled in different kingdoms of Europe, was ordained priest and clandestinely returned to his homeland. There he exercised an intense pastoral activity with his compatriots, until, arrested and sentenced to death during the reign of King James I, he attained the glorious crown of martyrdom on the scaffold. († 1615)

  8. * In Frasne-le-Château (France), Blessed Jean-Joseph Lataste, professed priest of the Order of Preachers, who tirelessly promoted the rehabilitation of sinners and their full participation in the mission of the Church and founded the Congregation of the Dominican Sisters of Bethany. († 1869)

  9. In Paris (France), Saint Marie-Eugénie of Jesus (Anne Milleret de Brou), virgin, founder of the Congregation of the Religious of the Assumption, dedicated to the Christian education of young people. († 1898)

  10. * Near Cortázar (Mexico), Blessed Elías del Socorro (Mateo Elías Nieves del Castillo), priest of the Order of Saint Augustine and martyr, who, imprisoned during the persecution for secretly exercising his pastoral ministry, was shot out of hatred for the priesthood. († 1928)
