  1. In Naples (Italy), the commemoration of Saint Eustasius, bishop. († 3rd century)

  2. The commemoration of Saint Mark, Bishop of Arethusa (now Al-Rastan, Syria), who during the Arian controversy faithfully followed the right faith and was severely persecuted during the time of Emperor Julian the Apostate. Saint Gregory of Nazianzus praises him as a distinguished man and a most holy elder. († 364)

  3. The commemoration of Saints Armogastus, Archinimus, and Saturninus, martyrs who, in northern Africa, during the persecution of the Vandals, at the time of the Arian king Genseric, suffered terrible tortures and ignominies for confessing the true faith. († c. 462)

  4. * On Mount Carmel (Palestine), Blessed Berthold, a soldier who was admitted among the friars who had embraced the monastic life on this mountain and was later elected prior, entrusted this pious community to the Mother of God. († 1188)

  5. * In Poitiers (France), Saint Guillaume Tempier, bishop, who, with prudence and firmness, defended the Church entrusted to him against the nobles and corrected the customs of the people, giving himself the irreproachable example of his life.  († 1197)

  6. * In Wismar (Germany), Saint Ludolf, Bishop of Ratzeburg and martyr, who, for defending the liberty of the Church, was confined in a miserable prison by order of Duke Albert, and his body was so weakened that, as soon as he was freed from his chains, he departed this world. († 1250)

  7. * In Salisbury (England), the commemoration of Blessed John Hambley, priest and martyr, who, during the reign of Elizabeth I, in hatred of the priesthood, on an unknown day of this month, close to the Lord’s Passover, was configured to the passion of Christin the torture of the gallows. († 1587)
