In Salzburg (Austria), Saint Rupert, bishop, who first lived in Worms and, at the request of Duke Theodo, went to Bavaria and built a church and a monastery in Juvavum (now Salzburg, Austria), which he directed as bishop and abbot and from where he expanded the Christian faith throughout that region. († c. 718)

  2. * In San Severino (Italy), Blessed Pellegrino from Falerone, a priest, was among the first disciples of Saint Francis and, going as a pilgrim to the Holy Land, aroused the admiration of the Saracens themselves. († 1232)

  3. * In Quarona (Italy), Blessed Panacea de’ Muzzi, virgin and martyr, who, after having received continuous ill-treatment from her stepmother, was finally murdered by her at the age of fifteen while praying in church. († 1383)

  4. * In Turin (Italy), Blessed Francesco Faà di Bruno, diocesan priest, who diligently combined the science of mathematics and physics with the fervor of works of charity. († 1888)
